Overview Salem State University is seeking a dedicated Trades Manager to join our Maintenance team. In this role, you'll oversee essential campus operations while supporting a collaborative environment that keeps our university community thriving. You'll lead skilled tradespeople, manage projects, and ensure our facilities remain safe and functional for students, faculty, and staff. Bachelor's degree and Five years of relevant full-time maintenance experience -OR- Associate degree in Business Administration or Management or related field 10 or more years of relevant full-time maintenance experience -OR- High School Diploma or GED 15 years of relevant full-time maintenance experience 2. Five years of direct management of 10 or more employees 3. Experience using work order management, scheduling, Microsoft office suite 4. Must be available in emergency after hour and recall situations as needed 5. Possession of a current valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications 1. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines as well as demonstrated flexibility to meet changing needs to handle anticipated and unpredictable deadlines 2. Experience in planning, implementing and controlling budgets 3. Working knowledge of OSHA Regulations, and ADA Regulations 4. Working knowledge of Massachusetts Building Codes 5. Management and operations experience in similar institutional settings 6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including creating reports, conducting meetings, and training personnel; demonstrated ability to communicate to large groups within a multilevel organization 7. Demonstrated knowledge and oversight of Carpentry, Lock, Paint, Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC 8. Demonstrated knowledge of Power Plant operations Working Location This is an onsite position in Salem, MA with on-campus, in-person responsibilities, which may require occasional work on evenings and weekends.
