Coding Quality Reviewer Specialist (Inpatient MS-DRG)

Compensation: ~$40-$45/hr (midpoint $42.28/hr, based on experience)

Location: Nashville, TN (Remote Work From Home)

Work Policy: Full-time | Remote (eligible in most U.S. states; not available in CA, AK, NY, or CO)

What Will You Do?

• Conduct inpatient and outpatient coding quality reviews (routine, pre-bill, and policy-driven) across multiple Health Information Management Service Centers (HSCs).
• Ensure compliance with national coding guidelines and company coding policies.
• Perform internal audits on HSC coders, focusing on MS-DRG accuracy, documentation integrity, and reimbursement alignment .
• Achieve and maintain 95%+ productivity and accuracy standards .
• Provide feedback and guidance to coding staff on audit findings and compliance best practices.
• Stay current on official data quality standards, coding updates, and regulatory changes.
• Participate in special projects, targeted reviews, and policy initiatives.

What Will You Need?

• Associates or Bachelors degree in HIM/HIT preferred.
• Active RHIA or RHIT credential (mandatory).
• Minimum 10 years of hospital coding experience , with at least 3 years of inpatient MS-DRG auditing experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in coding across all body systems (not specialized).
• Proven ability to meet or exceed accuracy and productivity benchmarks.
• Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
• Must be able to complete and pass a coding assessment (90 minutes; includes multiple choice and open-ended questions).
• Residency in an eligible U.S. state (excluding CA, AK, NY, and CO).
