Job Summary and Responsibilities

CHI St. Joseph Childrens Health is seeking candidates for this exciting full-time position with addition to the opportunity to provide a warm nurturing experience for children and families this unique Co-Teacher Position will oversee our in-house food service program.

Essential functions as a Co-Teacher (food services) may include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in planning preparing and delivering lesson plans special activities and provocations that facilitate active learning consistent with the philosophies and objectives of the St. John Neumann School for Children and Families.
  • Support in preparing and maintaining a safe healthy inviting nurturing and engaging environment for all children families and colleagues.
  • Maintain positive and proactive approaches to discipline and student behavior in accordance with the behavior policy plans and mindful philosophies endorsed by CHI St. Joseph Childrens Health and the St. John Neumann School for Children and Families.
  • Create accurate and complete records for students colleagues and parents regarding students progress development and needs as appropriate.
  • Assist in updating all necessary records accurately and completely on students and activities as required by laws policies and school regulations.
  • Assist in multiple classrooms if/when the position requires it.
  • Collaborate with the School Leadership to address the needs of the schools food service program.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education child development special education elementary education or the human services field.
  • A.A/A.S degree in early childhood education / teaching from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Creative in their approach to their job.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of inquiry and play-based learning models.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the cultural and social barriers that can exist when accessing health-related services.
  • Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit stand walk talk hear operate a hand-held learning device and other office equipment reach with hands and arms and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
